Dear Students and Parents:

 

            Welcome to a new year at Marcus High School.  Hopefully with all of us working together this will be a successful year.  Below are a few guidelines that are needed to make each day a positive learning experience.

 

 

 

 

MATERIALS

CLASSROOM RULES

 

1.  Always treat others with respect (keep objects to yourself, no teasing, etc.).

2.  Bring supplies and textbook EVERYDAY.

3.  Tardies are strictly enforced by using the guidelines in the student handbook.  Be in your seat

     when the bell rings.

4.  Textbooks must be covered throughout the year.

5.  Observe all safety precautions in lab.

6.  No food allowed in the classroom, bottled water will be allowed in its proper container.

 

             

ABSENCES

 

1.  It is your responsibility to find and complete all make-up work.  You have 1 day for each day   

    missed.

2.  Tests and quizzes are made up by appointment only (before/after school or study hall).  No           

     class time will be given to make up a test or quiz.

3.   My lesson plans are posted on the internet at schoolnotes.com  Enter the zip code (75028),

CLASSROOM PROCEDURES

 

1.  Work may be completed in pen or pencil as specified (NEVER use red ink).  Lab reports are to     

     be typed or neatly written in blue or black ink only. Follow format sheet.

2.  I do not accept late work.  Make sure assignments are completed & turned in on time!!

3.  All students will have homework 3 to 5 times a week.  You will also have reading assignments. 

     There may be a quiz the next day strictly over the reading from the night before.

4.  Students will receive progress reports every 3 weeks.  Progress reports must be signed by a

     parent and brought back.

5.  Failure to behave appropriately during a lab will result in the student being removed from the

     lab.

 

 

CONFERENCES/TUTORING

 

1.  My conference period is second period.  I can be reached from 10:30 to 12:00 , the school

3.   If a situation arises and you feel a parent-teacher conference is necessary, please contact

      me via email or my extension to schedule a meeting time.

4.  Tutoring is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays or by appointment.   

 

 

GRADING

 

1.   9 week grade equals:      Major grades - 75% (tests, projects, process papers)

                                           Minor grades - 25% (homework, quizzes, labs)

2.  Semester average equals:   9 week grade – 80%

                                                    Semester exam – 20%

To receive credit for the course, your semester average must be a 70 or above.
