This story takes place at  school , race track, and their house. The theme of this story is the importance of family. Her mother died and then her dad left her to train horses in America.  She had to live with her aunt and uncle ,younger brothers and sisters too. 

           “This is not a proper home “ said Lidie “this is

just a mess of lawn chairs lined up in the living room”. Pg 141 Lidie is referring that there family room is just lawn chairs and that their family is not really a family its just like friends living with friends.
