CLASSROOM POLICIES

ASSIGNMENT BOOKS
Your student will use this to better aid their organizational skills.  These are sent home daily and I encourage you to review this with your child each day.  We can also use this as an additional way to communicate, between home and school, any concerns that might arise.
BINDERS

Your child’s binder will be brought home each day.  Each pocket divider will be set up and labeled in class.  The first pocket divider will be labeled “BACK AND FORTH” and “STAY HOME”.  Please check the  “back and forth” pocket for any important notes.  Any papers in the “back and forth” pocket should be returned to school the following day.  Each subject will have a pocket divider.  Any incomplete work, homework, or work in progress will be in the pocket for that subject area.  This will allow your child to locate homework papers easily.  Any papers that are on the rings behind a subject area were recorded in the gradebook.  PLEASE do not clean these out.  We will do this in class at the end of each six weeks.

GRADED PAPERS

Any assignments that are recorded in the gradebook will be in the binder, behind the subject to which it belongs.  Please keep all papers on the rings for the entire six weeks.  This will allow you to check your child’s progress throughout the six weeks.

Any failing grade will be sent home to be CORRECTED, signed and returned.

HOMEWORK

Homework is to be turned in during our morning routine.  Any work that is not completed by the due date will be penalized. The first day the assignment is late eleven points will be deducted from the earned grade, five points thereafter.  Your child will be given the opportunity to go to study hall during recess to work on the assignment.

  • If there is a problem with the amount of time spent doing homework, please let me know so we can work together to resolve any problems.

MAKE-UP WORK

Your child will have the number of days they were absent to make-up their work.  If you know your child will be out, let me know in advance and I will get their work together beforehand. If possible, please call in the morning the day your child is absent and I will send the day’s work home with a neighbor or have their work at the front office for you to pick up by 3:00.
